HearMark is operated by Earmark Ltd (United Kingdom).

How to delete your account

You can delete your HearMark account and its data yourself, at any time, from inside the iOS or Android app or on the web. You don't need to reinstall the app or email us.

1. Sign in to HearMark, in the app or on the web at hearmark.app/login.
2. Open Settings → Account.
3. Tap Delete account and confirm with your password.

Deletion is immediate and irreversible. There is no recovery window.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes your personal data from HearMark, including:

• your account (name, email, and password hash);
• your episodes and their generated audio files;
• your registered devices and access tokens;
• your subscription state and what is left of your narration allowance (cancel the subscription itself in your App Store or Google Play account, as deleting your HearMark account does not cancel a store subscription);
• public share links you created (an episode someone else added to their own HearMark from your link is their own copy and is not affected);
• the record of the days on which you used HearMark;
• any support requests you sent from the Help page.

Submitted article text and uploaded documents are already deleted as soon as an episode finishes generating, so they are not retained to begin with.

What we may keep

We retain the minimum records the law requires us to keep: in particular, financial records of purchases (subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play) are kept for the period required by UK company accounting and tax rules. These records do not include your payment-card details; those are handled by Apple or Google and never reach us.

One other thing deliberately survives deletion: the one-way hash of your email that records you have already had the one-time welcome credit. It cannot be reversed back to your email address, and keeping it is exactly what stops a deleted-and-recreated account from claiming that credit again. We also keep our counts of how many accounts used HearMark on each day and in each month; the record of which days your account was used is deleted, and what stays is the totals: plain numbers with no account identifier, name, email address or device in them. Can't sign in?

If you can't access your account, email [email protected] from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you after confirming it's yours.
